FORT WALTON BEACH — Ever since Shaw’s Auto Repair opened over a year ago, the locally owned and operated shop has always found ways to help people in need.
The auto repair shop, located at 712 Eglin Parkway NE, thrives on donating cars to people who need them the most, especially families.
“It’s a good feeling to give someone something they really need, especially when they are good people,” said Chris Shaw, the shop’s owner.
Shaw’s fiancĂ©e, Tina Lemens, said their inspiration to give back came seven years ago when their daughter got severely hurt and there was no one to help them. They knew how it felt to be in need.
“Once our daughter got better, we started to help others in the community,” she said.
So far, Shaw’s Auto Repair has donated four cars. On Friday, Marsha Stokes was the next to receive a reliable car.
“I actually have a job interview next week, and now I will have a car to take me there,” said Stokes after receiving the keys to her new car.
Shaw and Lemens are always searching for inexpensive cars to buy and donate.
“If people donated a car that needs a lot of work, I’m willing to fix it and pass it along to someone that really needs it,” Shaw said.
